Ez-Living announces the launch of new internet website to sell exclusively telephones, saveontelephones.com
San Diego, CA—July 12, 2006, Ez-Living continues exploration of ways to effectively sell on the web and to the senior market with the release of saveontelephones.com.
Ez-Living CEO John Turner stated "we have learned from our testing with the Ez-Living website, that too often consumers primary criteria for selecting a supplier for a web purchase is price. In some categories in the Ez-Living site we are seeing thousands of hits daily but only a small percentage of these hits result in a sales. Our research has shown that price often is the problem because Ez-Living does not discount. The consumer uses our site for research, chooses their product and then Google searches the product to buy it from the guy with the cheapest price. With the new website saveontelephones.com, we will be able to experiment with discounting without harming the future of Ez-Living, in plans to develop and to expand the sales (of Ez-Living) beyond the web. With the launch of saveontelephones.com, we are now testing two websites with different approaches. Basically both sites use the same back-end infrastructure, saving significantly on the development costs for the new site. We will use what we learn from saveontelephones.com to better understand the buying habits of our target customers to help us in our future planing for how to develop Ez-Living."
The saveontelephones.com website began customer testing in July, 2006.
More from the press release by Ez-Living introducing saveontelephones.com.
San Diego, CA—July 1, 2006, San Diego-based Ez-Living Incorporated announced today the launch of a new website dedicated to the exclusive sales of telephone products www.saveontelephones.com.
According to Ez-Living President and CEO, John Turner, the strategy behind launching saveontelephones.com is to provide a broader yet more focused selection of telephones as well as provide more competitive web- only pricing and discount programs for the web customer.
Ez-Living sells products for seniors and consumers with special needs in mobility, communications, hearing, health and safety. The company’s primary web site www.ez-living.com has an e-commerce store and sells the products offered by Ez-Living and provides customer and dealer support attributes including manual downloads, spec sheet downloads and an extensive FAQ database. Ez-Living backs all product sales sold by Ez-Living with an extended three-year warranty program.
Turner states, “Since launching the Ez-Living web site in October 2004, we have been very pleased with the traffic and visits the site has generated. However we have found in certain categories, (like telephones) -Internet shopper’s primary decision in buying is price. Internet shoppers will spend a lot of time on our site, using our tools, FAQ’s and selection charts to decide what phone they need and then once the selection is made, many customers Yahoo or Google search by model number for better prices and not return to our site because another web-only seller offered a lower price.” Turner continues, “on higher priced products, they may return because of our extended warranties, but we have not been able to fully understand at what price point the average consumer considers an extended warranty on a telephone of value. On the surface it would seem the solution would be to simply lower the prices on the telephone products sold by Ez-living but this would cause problems for the Ez-Living dealers and with the Corporation’s plans to open retail stores in the near future.”
SaveOnTelephones.com will sell corded and cordless phones, answering machines, caller ID’s and telephone accessories. The site is focused only on telephone products and is designed so the consumer can quickly find what they are looking for. Selling programs (prices) will be very aggressive to compete with other web-only sellers. Products will feature the manufacturer’s warranty and will be backed by saveontelephones.com 14-day no-questions-asked return policy.
Turner said, “We are very excited about this new division of Ez-Living. Since we started the company we have established some great manufacturer and vendor relationships. Our order processing, warehousing and distribution infrastructure can support this new site with minimal incremental costs. It will allow us to sell telephone products on the web with competitive pricing and without harming our long-term growth plans for Ez-Living as a brick and mortar chain of retail stores. Based on the success of saveontelephones.com we are considering additional product “category- specific” sites in health, safety, mobility and other categories, selling with the save-on theme and web site template.”
The Saveontelephones.com web site will go live and start taking customer orders July 15th, 2006 and will feature products from well known brands such as Ameriphone, At&T, ClassCo, Clarity, Conairphone, Fanstel, GE, Motorola, Panasonic, NW Bell, SW Bell, Uniden, Vtech and others.
SaveOnTelephones.com is a division of Ez-Living. Ez-Living is a product company that designs, manufactures and sells consumer electronics and mobility products targeted at the baby boomer, elderly and special-needs consumer. Ez-Living is headquartered in San Diego California. |
